Create A Day 365: Full Description and Guidelines

Hello friends, family, and future followers!

I have decided to take on a 365 project this year starting on my 23rd birthday, February 2, 2011. For those who don't know, a 365 project is where someone does something – Anything! – every day for a year. Some other great 365 projects that inspired me to do this are Noah Scalin's Skull-A-Day, Jen MacNeil's In the New, and Marisa Lynch's New Dress A Day, which are all really amazing projects that you can easily get sucked into for hours! So! I decided to start my own 365 project because of them! Why may you ask? Well, I've been following some of these 365-ers very closely, particularly Skull-A-Day, for some time and have seen what a difference these projects can make on people's lives... not just the creators, but the followers as well! I'm not doing this to try and become famous and have thousands of followers like these people, but to prove to myself that I can do it! I also feel like right now I need something to focus on and get myself through the daily drag of school and work. I haven't had much drive the past several months, and I feel like this is something that will help invigorate me again!

So! What's my 365 going to be about? Well, I've thought about it a lot and have had a really hard time nailing it down to one thing I would like to do, so my 365 project will focus on creativity, in all of it's forms. I will set out to do something creative everyday, whether it's something musical such as writing/recording a new song or learning a new instrument or piece; something to do with the many forms of visual art like drawing, painting, sculpting, crafting, photography, digital art, etc.; or something with the literary arts such as poetry, short stories, or journaling. I think having multiple options will help me to continue and complete the 365 project and not get burnt out. I will also have some guidelines:

Create A Day 365: Guidelines

  1. I will do one creative project a day and document it.
  2. I will limit myself to 90 minutes maximum for each creative project so I don't get caught up in a project for hours!
  3. I will be posting every night before I go to bed (sometimes this means around 2 am... sorry I'm a night owl!) and if I don't make a post one day, I will do two the next day.
  4. I will limit myself to 3 posts in a day, so I don't get too far behind!
  5. I will do more than one project on days when I have more time so I have backup posts ready for hectic days!
  6. I am open to any suggestions from you! I have a bunch of ideas for things to do, but not nearly 365 ideas, so if you have anything you think would be neat, such as pictures to draw/paint/photoshop, new pieces to play/sing, or different writing styles, let me know! I am definitely open to trying new things as long as it keeps within the 90 minute time limit!
I hope that you all will support me and push me to keep going through this year long project! I am so excited to start and I can't wait to share my creative projects with you!
